Before and After 3 Microneedling Treatments
I’ve done three microneedling treatments so far (at the time of writing this) and now I’m seeing a major change overall in my skin. I wanted to put these few photos up now.
These were the most accurate side-by-side comparison photos I could find. The first ones were taken right before I began microneedling and the others were taken one month after my most recent microneedling session. The only makeup worn is mascara and in the last photos you can see I filled in my brows. I am amazed at the change and had no idea my skin looked that blotchy and uneven, until seeing the new updated photos. Wow! I don’t know if these changes are permanent or fleeting. But, I see a major improvement.

Hi! Thank you for posting these. I’m about to start microneedling and your results are very encouraging. You look amazing!
Thank you so much, Lola! I really hope things go well with your microneedling! If you ever have questions, let me know. :)
This is the most helpful content I’ve found on the internet about microneedling. Thank you so much for posting!
Would love to see / hear more updates as time goes on, if you have time – It’d be so helpful to see the longer-term effects.
Hi Michelle! Thank you so much! I will definitely keep posting updates and comparisons. I haven’t been posting on this site enough lately so thank you so much for stopping by as it’s inspired me to give some updates and posts that are overdue! I also agree it’s important to see things over the long-term as the changes seem to go up and down for me. I want to see if changes are sustained over time too! Also, the photos have really helped me to see things because I was kind of oblivious to how my skin was looking before and sometimes you are so used to seeing your own face you don’t notice all these things. So I will keep updating!
Has it had any effect in minimizing pores??
Hi Ria,
I think it has definitely made the appearance of the pores smaller. But, I also occasionally do face peels (ie: the AHA+BHA peel from the Ordinary) and doing this helps as well. It takes multiple methods to address a lot of these things it seems like. But, the needling itself, to me it has really improved overall skin tone and texture, including pores which seem to at least appear smaller.
Hey there,
I bought a microneedle on eBay. What direction and depth do you do? Also, I got 36 and 12 pin. Which do you like?
Hi! What kind of pen did you get? Hopefully it came with instructions. I have lots of videos showing what direction and how I do it here: https://www.youtube.com/c/LifeDiy But, essentially it doesn’t matter if you go back and forth, in straight lines or otherwise – as long as you cover the area you want to cover and work on. I personally use a depth of 0.5mm and that is what is recommended for home use – though some people decide to go deeper on scars or other areas they are working on. I have only used the 12 pin cartridge and like it a lot!
Hi, I tried microneedling once and am not happy with my results. I prefer how I looked before – it’s more natural. I also think that you were more beautiful before. You have more character and more gentle expression. That is exactly the same thing that happen to me. I will never do any treatments on my face again. I prefer looking natural.
Hi Masha – thanks for the comment. People don’t usually see permanent changes from one treatment. But, the skin does go through a lot of changes temporarily and can become a bit dry or tighter or look different after a couple of weeks. But, it will likely go back to normal soon – so that’s good. How long has it been since your treatment? I am sorry you don’t like how it looks. I don’t usually like how my skin looks the first week after a treatment but then it usually goes back to normal. I love the results I got after six treatments because it evened out my skin tone. What kind of changes are you not liking?
micro needling IS natural. if you mean you prefer looking old with sagging skin then go ahead. with derma rolling you are basically puncturing your skin to induce collagen production, therefore increasing your skin elasticity and strength. that’s all.
I look older now because my skin got lines! My doctor is against this invssive method, and is sure that this treatment should not be done in winter time (which was my case).
Hey Masha. :) Such a cute name. I understand about lines. I am getting some too. The needling can help. But, another thing that has helped me, when my lines were actually much worse – was doing regular peels (ie: glycolic). This is another thing they will say not to do at home, but you can very safely do them at home with the right percentage. I have a post about beginner face peels, and I share before and after 5 yrs of peels and how it got rid of some lines. Also, some people who are nervous about the Dr Pen, will start out by using a microneedling roller. That can help too.
Thank you for posting! About to try microneedling!
Gonna buy CE Ferulic from skinceuticals, what do you think of their product line?
Nichole, I have heard great things about the line and surprisingly, I haven’t tried that yet. I think I haven’t tried it because it is a bit pricey. I also recommend products from the Ordinary if you want some great ones that are really affordable!
Thank you for this review! Appreciate your work.
Thank you Kristie for the nice comment and so sorry for the late reply!
Hi! Just did my first session today at .2mm. and found your video and blog. Thanks for the useful pcitures most on google seems photoshopped or manipulated with light…
Are you doing sessions almost every week? Because i saw 4-6 weeks recommended between sessions but you seem to have done more. Is that ok?
Thanks Kat and sorry for the late reply! For microneedling, I tend to do them every two months but every month is fine too. :)
I love how well microneedling worked for you. You look amazing! I am getting the treatment done next week and I hope I look just as good.
Aww thank you! I really hope you have amazing results too! I am about to do a treatment again tomorrow!
I would like to know what products you are using that you think are working for you? I got confused a bit. I really want to start this process and would like to use the same things you are.
Hi Jodie. For me, using products that contain glycolic acid or other types of acids have given me some of the best results, in addition to doing microneedling from time to time. I also feel like I get the best results from peels in general. The everyday skincare is a bit less important in my experience, though having your skin hydrated can make a massive difference in how youthful your skin looks & feels. I want to do a video on this and share the products I am using. I just think it’s important to use serums and oils if you have dry skin, then apply your moisturizer. The other very important thing is to wear sunscreen to prevent damage to the skin, which will accelerate skin aging, sunspots and wrinkles.
You might want to check out my other post here: https://lifeanddiy.com/before-after-microneedling-dietary-changes-tca-glycolic-peels-10-years/ so you can see the types of results I have had from all the different types of skincare treatments. That might help. If you want me to talk about anything in a video, just let me know. Maybe I can help clear some things up. Thanks!
Thank you.
