So at your recommendation I purchased the lowest level glycolic peel (30), as I've never done any kind of peel before. My question is this! I did my third micro needling session 8 days ago. My skin for the most part is back to normal...maybe just a little dryer than normal still. I used the glycolic peel I purchased on my teenage son shortly after I got it. He never really noticed anything other than slight, slight tingling. He never had any side effects beyond that though. So the question is...I'm 8 days out from my last MN treatment...how long should I wait before doing the glycolic peel? And should I time it accordingly based on my schedule and expect any peeling at all? If the result is minimal...how often should I do them, with the understanding that I am committed to microneedle every 4 to 6 weeks. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences! You truly look better than you did in your 20's. Hoping to turn back the clock myself as well because overall I live a very healthy life. Thanks again!

Hi Mama K! :) Great question! I think using glycolic peels on the face can help with all the things you are working on, plus the wrinkles and skin texture, etc. and there is no downtime. Once you're comfortable with doing them, then if it were me, I would do TCA peels. But, it isn't without risks. You have to be really well-prepared and understand the risks if doing it at home. It's a real deal of a peel! lol. You can also get that done at a spa. Glycolic peels generally won't cause noticeable excessive peeling on the skin.

But, the TCA peels WILL for sure do that. So they require some down time if you don't want people to see your face peeling off. I have a full video on it and it shows it in detail - what to expect and the results. So doing it at home is not for everyone, but I have found the most significant results from doing TCA (and glycolic peels). Definitely best to start with glycolic as it's safer and if you do them consistently, you can get results. Another option is to use retinol or a tretinoin cream in between these other treatments. Some people would prefer to just use a Retinol or Tretinoin, instead of doing the peels. So there are a few options. If you have never done glycolic peels, I would start there! You'll love the results. :)

Hi Hollie! For somebody that is trying to get on top of 40 years of negligence…I am new to micro needling and plan to continue it… But what would you recommend incorporating in in the way of peels? My biggest trouble spot is my under eyes. I have plenty of wrinkles, extra skin…and darkness. What peels would you recommend for that the most and how would you time them in with the needling?

In reply to <a href="https://lifeanddiy.com/real-results-from-at-home-chemical-peels-5-years-later-reverse-aging/#comment-16">Aly</a>.

Hi Aly! Thanks for the comment. Great question. I am pondering this because there are so many factors. One peel I did that may also have helped was the TCA peel. I've done those twice, though the peel was milder than I thought and the peeling wasn't really deep at all (though I wanted it to be). So, the only thing I was very consistent with over the past five or so years were the peels. But, like I said, I did microneedling too but it was light. Maybe the combination of things really helped. I also think some people have great results using Retin A, but I am not using it now (have tried it here and there). One last thing that could have contributed but I didn't realize it until recently was that I stopped eating dairy. Though that may help with puffiness in the face, I don't think it got rid of the wrinkles or fine lines. So, I'm thinking if you are working on that area and can do microneedling (with a roller or pen) and also do peels, that would be a great way to try to tackle it. One other thing I do is I take a Tumeric supplement. This really helps with inflammation (probably facial puffiness too) and it's all natural, safe and also helps relieve pain. I think all these little things might be contributing to the improvements.

Wow even the fine lines and tear trough area looks better and more plump. Do you think that's from the peels or something else you've used? I have trouble with my tear troughs and fine lines around the eyes and want to do something to improve it :/
