Hi, I've been watching your videos on microneedling, and have been wanting to try it. So I ordered and just got my DrPen and numbing cream. Do you recommend any other items that i should have before I do it. Also, have you ever done your lips? The Aesthetics office I go to to get my facials & other treatments have this on their menu as well as I've seen in on social media. do you have any suggestions or recommendations regarding this?

Hi Kristen! That sounds like a great plan. And, that's awesome you got a Dr. Pen. I was also going to mention nanoneedling because I have seen such beautiful results from it and it's under-rated and I need to do a new video on it sometime soon because I am so impressed with the results and how it makes my skin look after doing it. I really hope you like the results you get with all of these treatment options and then after your wedding, you can keep using them. Let me know if you ever have any more questions!

Thanks for your response! I think I will skip the TCA peel (I wasn't looking forward to the pain anyways lol). I'll try the microneedling and a possibly a weaker peel. I just bought the Dr. Pen A6 with regular needles and nano needles and Trueskin vitamin c serum (for nano needling or after my skin has healed from microneedling). I also bought a red/blue light to work on acne and pores. Hopefully I see some improvement, Ive been doing some research after watching all of your microneedling videos :)

In reply to <a href="https://lifeanddiy.com/before-after-microneedling-dietary-changes-tca-glycolic-peels-10-years/#comment-235">Kristen Tovar</a>.

Hi Kristen! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. That is so exciting! Thanks for your comment and question. Glycolic peels are wonderful for regular use and you'll see that your skin is super smooth and the texture beautiful, plus your skin often appears brighter and more youthful after those peels. No matter what treatments you do, just always wear a good sunscreen or you may cause pigmentation issues.

Are you using a tretinoin cream or retinol products? If so, you just need to be careful as you often need to stop using it prior to doing any of these peels (often 5-7 days prior).

If it were me, I would start testing these things out soon just to be sure your skin has no negative reactions to anything. Then if your skin reacts well to glycolic peels, that's a great one to do a day or two or three before your wedding - if you are totally sure you have no issues or peeling from it. So, I would go with the lowest strength to be extra safe to try it out - because for most people that won't cause the skin to visibly peel, but will still give beautiful results.

You just need to figure out how to space things out. If it were me, and I wanted to do a TCA peel, I would have that be one of the first treatments I would do, if it's possible. But, if you're doing it at home, just be super careful and do a low strength, plus a patch test. Or you could also get it done somewhere and just let them know how strong you want it or don't want it. I just would want to be extremely cautious and do a lighter one just to be sure your skin doesn't have any reactions - or to be sure you aren't super susceptible to hyperpigmentation issues after a TCA people. Many people prep their skin for two weeks prior to a TCA peel with products that inhibit pigmentation (like Alpha Arbutin - which is what I use). If you want to be extra safe you could just skip out on the TCA and do some glycolic treatments (of different strengths) plus microneedling a couple times. That in itself can produce some great results, depending on how your skin is to begin with.

Microneedling can take time to see results, but I did see some decent changes after even two treatments. It also helps with scarring, but it can take time. Besides that, for pores - I've had the best results with using a mandelic acid toner and also doing mandelic acid peels. They aren't harsh at all for me and I can do them regularly. Other than that, to work on the pores, doing some salicylic acid applied to that area is another option - for spot treatments/peels. You just need to research how to space these things out from each other so you don't overdo anything.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

This is super helpful thank you so much for sharing! I discovered your account a couple days ago when researching peels. I’ve watched your micro needling videos now too. My wedding is in less than 3 months and I want to diminish some pores and scars on my face or at least smooth my skin out some. I’m not sure if I can combine micro needling and a peel in that time (tca or glycolic). Or if I can do a peek in the month after micro needling? What do you think would have the best results in that time? It seems like micro needling is your favorite treatment. Thank you!
