Hi Esther! Thank you so much for your comment and insight into this topic. I bet it was really interesting in India! I am glad you tried to shed some light on how not all westerners wear that much makeup. It is so different nowadays with makeup in general. Even though many people don't wear that much (like youtubers) I think really young people might have that impression as well. Some young people in my family wear makeup like youtubers, since that is where they learned how to wear it! So different from when I was growing up. I never wore any until more recently. Anyway, so true about self love and not being perfect. :) Thank you so much for the comment!

The more natural bloggers, the better... it is time we get real again and stop this fake "perfection" madness :)
Interesting example: I spend a little time in India and got to know some Indian ladies who mentioned they watch makeup video's to get inspired for their wedding makeup. The comments I received was that these YouTubers use so many products and wear so much makeup... My response was "They are simply selling themselves and products, do not view them as the average westerners. Do I use a lot of makeup?"

So interesting how these "ideals" get spread with today's access via the internet... we need more examples of how it is ok to practise self-love without all the perfect fakeness :)

Cheers

Hi Michelle! Thank you so much for your comments and insight! I totally agree with your comment about how it's hard to trust someone who has formed an opinion while barely incorporating something into a 10+ step regime for a few days! YES!!! So true. It is also similar when some youtubers trying to show whether or not microneedling is working. I am not against botox and filler, though I do have some personal opinions on it when it's overused it can look really rough. But, I totally understand the appeal. But, some youtubers, for example, are promoting microneedling and sharing before and afters but during the process they have had a lot of botox and filler. That makes it so hard to tell what is helping or if things are really working. Sorry for my tangent! I too am sick of non genuine reviews though. I have found only a few youtubers who I trust with their recommendations and even with those, I am not always sure!

So refreshing! I’ve started watching a lot of beauty YouTube videos in the past year as I’ve been looking for products and procedures to help with recent acne + acne scars!

So many do cover up what their skin looks like and they keep pushing products without providing real / genuine reviews. It all seemed so helpful at first, but after a bit I began to stop watching as it didn’t seem like I could trust their recommendations.

For example, how could they form an opinion on a product after only trying it a couple times or after incorporating it into a 10+ step regime for a few days?! When there are so many steps, you can’t isolate if it’s had at effect on the skin.
